This is a first for me: A meet between two CSX trains at CP35 just south of the one way bridge by the entrance to Stony Point Battlefield Park. I had no idea this was going to happen as my scanner made no sounds.
Turns out I entered a wrong number when programming the scanner this morning {facepalm}
To begin I heard the northbound first. As it came into view and got closer I noticed it was on the passing track. "Would it stop to either let a southbound go through or have another northbound pass it?" I wondered. As it came to a stop just before a right of way crossing I knew I was right. While idling I zoomed a few times to get some shots of the lead engine. I also let the camcorder run for a while to get the engine sounds. At times I stopped the camcorder as park visitors were walking up to my spot to see what was making all that noise. I even let one woman, who had a camera, stand by my spot to take some pics through the chain linked gate. After the onlookers left I ran the camcorder some more.
My only gaff while shooting this was being zoomed into the lead engine while the southbound was coming. Due to the roar of the stopped train I didn't hear the southbound coming till it was just about to pass under the one way bridge. This is why there is a quick zoom out before the southbound shows up.
Just minutes after the southbound train passed the northbound engine's lights went back on and the train departed. While all this was going on I noticed that the sky was starting to get overcast. When the northbound was gone I decided to leave. Good thing I did because it began to rain HARD while driving through Franklin Lakes on the way home!
